consumerism has taken a different turn. if retail sales have been languishing at its lowest point in decades, presidential paraphernalia has never been this fever-pitched since the kennedys. from toilet paper to commemorative dildos? i think it’s gotten too far. the cultural and political significance of the obama presidency is turning into a joke.
